Managing knowledge is an important element of collaborative group processes. Groups cannot fully benefit from their efforts unless they keep track of their ideas, decisions and agreements. In fact, collaborative sessions that are fully documented become part of the company’s intellectual property.
All meetings, whether in-person or virtual, represent an investment in time and money. Unstructured and undisciplined meetings waste valuable human resources. The structure and discipline enabled by ThinkTank meetings provides a fluid and productive way to disperse information and reach consensus on important decisions. Such meetings also provide a very important medium for capturing the information and controlling its use as a dynamic aspect of an organization’s intellectual property – and its all automatic.
Not only do participants immediately have a complete record of the meeting, they can share their accomplishments with a larger group without losing information through editing, faulty memory, or perceptual screening. Time is not lost transcribing meeting minutes and no ideas are lost translating scribbles from a whiteboard. In fact, since ideas are typed into ThinkTank by all participants, they tend to be more fully expressed thoughts.
The output from all ThinkTank session is available in three formats: MS Word, HTML and MS Excel. It includes all the information from the session; the session details, session roster, agenda, and all the submitted ideas and votes. The MS Excel version of the session is fully formatted as a worksheet and can easily be manipulated into other graph types or imported as a CSV file into other applications.
